It was dark, they were big, I never saw it coming – that’s pretty much the description given by the driver of the “Shark Car” of the moments shortly before this happened.

Entering the fast turn 5, using all of the lighting you would expect on a $500 car the turn-in mark was obscured by the Camaro (which had driven over it and toward the tire wall protected turn 5 concrete). “I just followed him off”.

The Shark was a Spec Miata that had been heavily damaged in a crash in July. Put a fork in it – as I had previously quipped “looks like bait”.
Who was driving the BTSS (shark) Miata when it crashed?
A really, really good driver – if I were unable to drive he would be a good choice as a replacement… That’s all I want to say for now.
By the way, thanks for these updates, Brian. Aside from the PIRLive video, it’s the only info those of us not there have about this race.
Not sure which of the Tidrick Family that the orange Camaro was being driven by, they had a few cars down there. B.J. Tidrick is a pretty big deal up here at the Yakima speedway. Rumor has it, though, that some excessive speed in the hot and off-track pits resulted in penalties that he wasn’t willing to serve, thus the Camaro was DQ’ed on the spot.
